The Saint in "Greed Causes Death"

Well, anyone who has noticed that famous haloed stick figure beside my profile must know that I am a huge fan of The Saint. The original books by author Leslie Charteris are among the best pulp-adventure series I've ever read. The Saint has gone from print to film to radio to TV and back to film. The TV series with a pre-007 Roger Moore was one of ITC's finest productions. Actors from Vincent Price, George Sanders, Hugh Sinclair, Roger Moore, Ian Ogilvy, to Val Kilmer have all played the "infamous Simon Templar" in one form or another, and a new TV series has been discussed (but nothing has surfaced yet). As we get closer to Halloween, classic horror films starring Vincent Price will no doubt fill TV screens across the country. While Price was brilliant at playing evil characters, few have experienced his portrayal as the "Robin Hood of modern crime ." Between 1945 and 1951, Price starred in The Saint radio series, which always began with Simon's trademark whistle.

Here is the full 1949 broadcast of the episode "Greed Causes Death"

Watch for the sign of the Saint, he will return........
