"The Sun Goes Down...."

As I've no doubt mentioned on this blog numerous times before, one of my favorite bands of the 1980s / mid-1990s was the Brit-Funk group Level 42. Larger in Europe than in the U.S. (where they only had two top 40 singles: Something About You and Lessons In Love), they called it quits in 1994 (although lead singer Mark King has been performing these last few years with former drummer Gary Husband as Level 42). Currently, a new album is in the works involving several of the original members...

In 1998, yet another Hits collection (they seem to appear every week) was released, and to promote the album, the 1984 single "The Sun Goes Down (Living It Up)" was given the remix treatment by Omar and Tin Tin Out and issued as a promo-12" and a CD5 (the second of which was pulled before it hit the market).

The Omar remix (also known as the 98 Mix) was featured on the album itself, but with the limited release of the 12" and pre-release withdrawl of the CD5, the Tin Tin Out mix has become very difficult to find. Most Level 42 fans did not like this mix, as it had nothing to do with the original song (outside of a few seconds of sample lyrics). That said, it did make a dent in the clubs (as have several Level 42 remixes by BMR in the last few years) and remains, in my opinion, one of the best undiscovered house tracks from 1998.

So, here it is in all of its glory:
The Sun Goes Down '98 "Tin Tin Out Club Mix" (Level 42)

Be sure to play it loud....
