R.I.P. Bernard Lacoste...

Bernard Lacoste, who took over the iconic company founded by his famous father, Rene, passed away at age 74. My father summed up the impact of everyone's favorite crocodile via e-mail today when he said the Lacoste "shirt and Ray Ban sunnies are joined at the hip as gotta have fashion props of the 50's and 60's as well as today" and I couldn't agree more. From presidents (just look at those famous images of JFK wearing both on the White House lawn) to classic Hollywood actors like Cary Grant to my generation who wore the resurgent Izod-Lacoste shirts of the 1980's (with the collars up of course) to today's college students willing to shell out upwards of $75 for one shirt, Lacoste is still a classic symbol of fashion. Different styles will come and go, but the shirt created by Lacoste will always remain a staple in any wardrobe...
