Level 42 frontman, Mark King, has been busy these days putting the finishing touches on the band's next album Retroglide which will follow the release of the new Hardage album (which Mark is featured on) and you can hear him on the tracks The Genius of Love and The Sweetest Pain.
Mark has certainly released his fair share of solo material, including two mass-market solo albums, the second of which, One Man, came out after Level 42 called it quits in 1999. The lead single Bitter Moon had some radio play in the UK, but the album did not reach the major commercial success of Level 42, and part of that might be due to the change in direction of Mark's sound. That is not to say that the album was not good, in fact, it is quite good, and certainly sounded contemporary when it was released. Included here is the demo version of the album's last track, Changing The Guard, a guitar driven track which would sound right at home on any rock station. Mark may be Mr. Thunderthumbs when it comes to the bass, but he's also a great drummer, and quite the guitar player as well...
