Dearly Beloved...

One of my other favorite remix artists, Karl Gunton, has just released a new mix of The Beloved's Sweet Harmony which adds new life to the classic track. So, in addition to that, I thought I'd post a few other tracks for those of you who may (or may not) be familliar with the music. The Beloved's music evolved from a new wave quartet in the mid 1980s to an all-out dance pop duo by the late 1980s and early 90s, all revolving around vocalist Jon Marsh. The Peel Sessions and early demos below sound like late Joy Division and early New Order complete with bass, guitar and synths. This is my favorite period for the band.

Sweet Harmony "Karl G Remix" - New

Early Demos (1983 - 1984)
The Flame (1983 Demo)
A Search (1983 Demo)- Tell me this is NOT New Order...

Peel Sessions (January 1985)
The Flame
A Hundred Words
Idyll - Brilliant track with an early New Order feel
A Beautiful Waste of Time

Peel Sessions (October 1985)
So Seldom Solemn
In Trouble & Shame
Josephine
Up A Tree
