Royksopp Does Coldplay...

Coldplay has not been a fan of remixing thier music, so when they actually offer the opportunity for another group to do so, it is something of a big deal. One of my favorite electronic groups out of Norway had the chance to do this several years ago for one of Coldplay's biggest hits to date, Clocks. Royksopp retained the vocals and added thier own electronic music, without losing the feel of the original song (something very rare these days). With one listen, it is as easily recognizable as Coldplay as it is Royksopp. The promo-only vinyl release was limited to 1000 copies, of which Coldplay agreed to sell just 100 copies directly to lucky fans. Needless to say, this is one very rare release. Side one contained the Trembling Heart Mix and side two contained the Trembling Heart Instrumental Mix (see UPDATE below for that one). The first mix is provided below (courtesy of The Yellow Stereo). So, who is Royksopp you ask? Well, if you don't recall the name, you certainly know the music, especially if you are a fan of Geico's caveman commercials or if you've ever been to an IKEA. Clearly one of my favorite electronic groups.

Here is a link for the "Trembling Heart Instrumental Mix" and Royksopp's live cover of the song. There are also a few other remixes of Clocks there too.
