Eiffel 65 Blooms Again...

Not many Italian groups have made an impact on the charts outside of Europe. That changed in 1999 when Eiffel 65's smash single Blue (Da Ba Dee) became a Top 5 hit and lead the album Europop to number 8 on the album charts in America. Eiffel 65 recorded several more albums in addition to remixing numerous songs for other artists, but failed to repeat the success of the Europop album in America. On May 16, 2006, the remaining two members of the original line-up, Maurizio Lobina and Jeffrey Jey, changed their name to Bloom 06 (as they could not legally use the name Eiffel 65 anymore) and released a stellar, more mature single, In The City. They followed the single with a new album in late December called Crash Test 01. If Eiffel 65 was fun Europop bliss, then Bloom 06 is sophisticated, mature, and polished electro brilliance along the lines of Royksopp and Moby. This duo has truly bloomed..
