I grabbed the debut release (2005) by Something For Rockets during the Tower Records store liquidation sale and was quite impressed with it. Based in Los Angeles, Something For Rockets sounds like a cross between New Order, The Killers, and a hint of Madness. infusing hypnotic dance-floor beats with lush melody and poignant lyrics. "Evocative, intelligent, and stylish, the result is a sound that is both vintage and future, dark and playful, and all anchored by the romantic sentiment of young and hopeless-self-distruction." The debut single Might As Well is just brilliant (this track is the reason why I suggest the band has a hint of Madness in their sound). They are currently working on their next album with former Blink 182 frontman, Mark Hoppus. You can download three tracks from the debut CD directly from the band's website (Might As Well, Tragic City, & The Line) by clicking the MP3 section under Media.Something For Rockets
