One of my favorite 80's new wave tracks has to be the original 7 inch and 12 inch versions of B-Movie's Nowhere Girl. Formed out of Mansfield, Nottinghamshire in 1978, the band they had their biggest UK commercial success when their 1981 single Remembrance Day reached #61 in the UK charts. In 1982 they released the single Nowhere Girl through the famous Some Bizarre lable making the Top 10 in many European countries and reaching #68 in the United Kingdom (it was first released in 1980 as a 6-song vinyl EP). From here they signed with Sire Records and released the album Forever Running in 1985 with newly recorded versions of Remembrance Day and Nowhere Girl. Chart success eluded the band and they eventually called it quits, only to resurface in March 2006 to perform in London.
The original 7 and 12 inch mixes of Nowhere Girl have always been considered far superior to the re-recorded Sire version, and I completely agree. So, here is the original Some Bizarre 12 inch mix for all to enjoy. (NOTE: The original vinyl rip was done by the now defunct Ramblings of a Music Man, I have just uploaded my copy of his original file). Anyway, enjoy this long lost new wave gem...
