One of my favorite sites for jazz music, Orgy In Rhthym, has reposted one of the holy grail albums for European jazz fans, Sahib Shihab & The Danish Radio Jazz Group. Recorded in Copenhagen in 1962 and released in 1965, all songs were written by American-born multi-reedist, Sahib Shihab. Shihab, who had recorded with Theolonious Monk and Art Blakely among others, left the United States in 1960 and became a major catalyst in the European jazz scene. His out-of-print vinyl albums have become collector's items with the featured album above fetching hundreds of dollars (the limited CD re-issue is a rare sight on eBay, and never goes for less than $80... thankfully I managed to locate one for much less). This is one of my top favorite jazz albums from the time period. Cool is an absolute understatement. Truly an essential pick for any jazz music fan worth his salt. Sahib Shihab & The Danish Radio Jazz Group
