Lily Was Here

Some movies are so eclipsed by their soundtracks that the films are all but forgotten. In the case of Lily Was Here, the film failed to make an impact (at least in America) while the soundtrack produced an international smash hit for Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) and the sensual Candy Dulfer with the soundtrack's title song in 1990 (No. 11 on Billboard's Hot 100). Few people knew the name of the song or the artist behind it, but you'd have been hard pressed not to hear the instrumental everywhere you went in 1990. Another amazing track from this album is the mellow semi-acoustic reworking of Here Comes The Rain Again with Annie Lennox. To this day, I've never seen the film, but the out-of-print soundtrack still sounds fresh nearly 20 years later. Stewart's acoustic guitar work is first rate. While I've also posted this on my other site, The New Wave Time Machine, I felt this would also interest some of you who just visit this site. A great soundtrack...
