Several recent discoveries seem to have turned the sci-fi fantasy of "Jurassic Park" into a much closer reality. For years, scientists have been looking for well preserved Wooly Mammoth remains in Siberia with the hopes of cloning the species. Several specimens have been found, complete with skin and fur (DNA). Of course, Mammoths died off about 10,000 years ago, which is like saying "last week" when you look at how far back the dinosaurs roamed the earth.
When it comes to thunder lizards, we have never found body tissue, and that limits our knowledge of these creatures well beyond simple cosmetic questions. Experts still debate whether or not they were cold blooded (modern birds have more in common with dinosaurs than lizards, so the evolutional path is a real grey area), whether creatures like the T Rex where hunters, or more likely, scavengers, and how they all died, or even what sounds they may have made.
A new discovery may be about to change some of that. Actual dinosaur tissue has been found from the internal marrow of a T Rex bone. For the first time in history, science will begin to decipher the internal workings of a dinosaur, and yes, the question has been asked, clone one IF they can isolate actual DNA.
If they do clone a T Rex, it may be as terrifying as it is exciting....
