Picked up Coldplay's new "X&Y" album yesterday (and actually got to meet Vince Clarke and Andy Bell from Erasure at the same Tower Records, but that is another story.....) and if you liked the last album, then you will not be disappointed. If you were hoping for an update on Coldplay's sound, you may enjoy this album less, as it is less of an evolution as it is a continuation of what we heard three years ago. That said, the album will please most of the masses.
Coldplay's smash hit "Clocks" spawned numerous bootleg mixes and only one authorized mix (Royksopp's Trembling Heart Mix), so naturally the new single "Speed of Sound" would follow suit. (On a side note, here is the wacky song that kept Coldplay's new single from debuting at No. 1: Axel F by Crazy Frog). BBC's Radio 1 has been airing the "Karl G" white label remix which is just starting to penetrate the clubs. Like most white label mixes, they are not for commercial sale and difficult to find.
