100 Years of Enoch Light.....

Today marks the 100th birthday of Enoch Light, composer, conductor, and leading pioneer in stereo and quadrophonic recording whose musical career spanned more than 50 years, from the 1920s to the late 1970s. In celebration, several of the Internet's leading vinyl sharity sites are posting classic, long out-of-print albums by Light for all to enjoy:

Multiple albums (including "Bongos, Flutes, Guitars") are found at Planet Xtabay
Enjoy "New Concept of Great Cole Porter Songs" at Weirdomusic
"Private Life of a Private Eye" can be found here.
The great "Pertinent Percussion Cha Cha's" is found here.
Oddio Overplay has "Bongos" and "Faraway Places 1 & 2"

Light's "Percussion" series albums are considered landmark recordings and command top dollar by collectors. A limited run of CD re-issues were snapped up in no time, and cost at least $80 or more used (if you can even find them). Enoch Light's music is as appealing to the loungecore set as it is to audiophiles. Many of the recording techniques we use today were pioneered by Light and his contemporaries.

Happy Birthday Enoch Light. Thanks for the music and your creative advances in the recording industry.

Paul.....
