Calypso Italiano......

Being half Italian, I enjoy listening to classic tracks like Dean Martin's "Volare" and Rosemary Clooney's "Mambo Italiano" (not to mention plenty of Sinatra now and then). Actually, while the title is politically incorrect, anything off of "Mob Hits" works for me (a great CD for any italian wedding or party). While most of the artists mentioned above are standard household names, I've always been a fan of Lou Monte, a name which rarely pops up outside of the Northern New Jersey / New York City area. Monte's most famous song, "Dominick The Donkey," can be found on many radio stations across the country every Christmas season (in fact, you can't listen to NYC radio without it). Sure, it is a campy song in retrospect, but every italian relative of mine knows it well. That said, Lou Monte was a very talented singer and he released countless albums which sold quite well. His music has been heard in everything from The Godfather to The Sopranos. So, without any further delay, here's a little Lou Monte to enjoy:
