Ok, so I'm a true Levelhead... Listening to previews of the new album has rekindled my interest in the older material. So, here's another Level 42 flashback, this time to 1988 when the band picked up two new members, Gary Husband (Alan Holdsworth) on drums and the late Alan Murphy on guitar (Go West, Mike & The Mechanics). The band's sound changed somewhat, with more guitar and Gary's intense drumming, causing a rift in long time fans of the original line-up. For me, the then-new album Staring At The Sun was simply brilliant, thanks in part to songs like Take A Look, one of my all time favorite ballads by the band. Alas, U.S. radio seemed confused with the new sound, and while the band had broken the top 20 with the previous two albums (even going platinum), they never regained the chart success in the States again...Take A Look "Extended Mix" (Level 42)
And, by an earlier request, here's another scarce track from the same album sessions:
Heaven In My Hands "Unreleased Promo Mix" - A far superior mix than the album / single version with sharper sound clarity and a much better guitar solo. This is the version that should have been released to the public!!!
