Information Society: Running 2007

The great Digital Eargasm has struck again, this time with a mild 2007 re-work of Information Society's breakout single, Running. The original single was released in 1985 by Wide Angle / Twin Tone Records giving the Minneapolis-based quartet their first hit. Three years later it was included in the band's major label self-titled debut along with their best known single, What's On Your Mind (Pure Energy) which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Dance Charts and No. 3 on Billboard's Top 100 in 1988. In 2001, Running was remixed and re-issued as a single reaching No. 2 on the Billboard Dance Charts. This new promo remix keeps the original feel of the 1985 version intact, making it ideal for fans of old-school dance music. As for the band, producer Paul Robb has purchased the rights from singer Kurt Harland (who continued recording under the band name through the 1990s) forming a new line-up. For more vintage InSoc, you can visit one of my earlier posts. I've also included a 1999 cover version by a band called Synthetic Conspiracy which is pretty good.
