One final post for today to follow the bossa nova / lounge vibe of my Nicola Conte / Mancini posts. On January 31st, indie label Ricky-Tick will release the new Dalindeo album, Open Spaces in Europe (no U.S. release is slated as of yet). The reviews (see snippet below) and sound samples I've heard make this release sound like a worthwhile purchase:When listening to the Helsinki based sextet Dalindèo one’s mind might easily drift in the eternally cool world of, say Antonio Carlos Jobim and John Barry. There are the bossa nova elements; mellow guitar, airy strings and most importantly the strong melodies that you want to whistle to. There’s also a certain cinematic quality and you might almost picture the scene in a sixties film where “Leviathan” is playing at the background.
You can preview some of the band's new music on their MySpace page and here (or you can purchase the Japanese CD which was released in November if you simply can't wait). Chances are, you'll be impressed and you'll be able to upstage your know-it-all musical friends with one of the hippest new albums they never even heard of...
