Marshmallow Fluff...

I was a late bloomer in terms of Marshmallow Fluff, but for several years now I just can't seem to get enough of this classic American comfort food. Lately, my retail sources for this product have been drying out in the Washington DC area (two grocery chains seemed to have replaced it with the second rate Jet Puffed from Kraft). Thankfully I've located a new retailer and can resume my fluffernutter obsession. To celebrate, I've included two vintage jingles below for those who enjoy music from classic commercials. Add these to your next retro shopping mix, or as "fluff" to fill extra space on another CD mix ;)

Durkee-Mower became a pioneer in radio advertising when in 1930 they began to sponsor the weekly "Flufferettes" radio show on the Yankee radio network, which included twenty-one stations broadcasting to all of New England. The fifteen minute show, aired on Sunday evenings just before Jack Benny, included live music and comedy skits, and served as a steppingstone to national recognition for a number of talented performers. The show continued through the late forties.
