Ok, here's one more post regarding Australian music. Pseudo Echo, who just celebrated their 25th anniversary in April, were very well known in the States even if their chart success was relatively minor. Their 1987 cover of Funky Town soared to No. 6 in Billboard's Hot 100 while the follow up single Living In A Dream only reached No. 57 (the album Love An Adventure peaked at No. 54 on the album charts that year). They called it a day in 1989. Lead singer Brian Canham joined Chocolate Starfish drummer Darren Danielson in 1997 to form the short-lived band, Brill (I still have some advance demos from that period when I was consulting with the now-defunct Momentum Records) which was miles away from the syth-based music PE was known for. Nostalgia reunited the original line-up and they released a new version of Funky Town in 1999 follwed by the album Teleporter in 2000. They still perform throughout Australia today and finally released their highly coveted 1982 debut album Autumunal Park on CD for the first time through Almacantar Records. Below are a series of tracks culled from the band's history. The first three tracks hail from the Teleporter period and still sound fresh seven years later. The acoustic tracks are very good, and sound completely modern. The rest span between 1982-1989. Love An Adventure is still my favorite PE album, and Walkaway is one of my favorite PE tracks of all time. All were sourced from the Pseudo Echo Collectors Group.Funky Town "Y2K Mix"
